As part of its corporate social responsibility(CSR), a non-profit global organisation, Brothers Across Nigeria (also known as Buccaneers Confraternity), has donated a 500 KVA transformer to the host community of its global headquarters, the Imeke Kingdom of Badgary, Lagos State.
Presenting the transformer to the community at a ceremony, BAN/BC’s Global President, Mr. Azubuike Onowu, thanked the Imeke Kingdom for being accommodating and welcoming to the group.
He assured the community of BAN’s total commitment to continuous investments in a host community that “has graciously hosted BAN/BC’s global headquarters for almost two decades.”
Onowu noted that the donation of the 500 KVA transformer was strategic in response to the challenges caused by epileptic power supply in the community, targeted at serving an additional 280 to 300 households and SMES in the community, thereby unlocking significant economic and social empowerment value.
The Onimeke of Imeke Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Abraham Olatunji Ogabi, in his welcome address at the event after the traditional presentation of Kola and drinks. prayed that: “May your light never dim in your life.”
The traditional ruler appreciated BAN for donating the transformer and expressed the sincere gratitude of the good people of Imeke kingdom to “the good and peace-loving members of Brothers Across Nigeria,” noting that BAN has been a great partner in the growth and development of Imeke kingdom.
He stated further that: “To whom much is given, much is expected,” as he donated two hectares of land to the confraternity in appreciation of their various developmental interventions in Imeke Kingdom and humanity in general.
Onowu, in his response to the gesture of the king, accepted the donation on behalf of BAN/BC, and pledged to continue doing more for the community and humanity at large.
The Buccaneers Confraternity was established in 1972 at the University of Ibadan, and has since undergone several iterations, and has grown into an international organisation, operating across Africa, Asia, North and South America and Western Europe.
