ASAWA ELEVATES LEISURE WEAR WITH AN ECLECTIC DOSE OF AFRICANNESS

The latest collection of Asawa Fashion Brand is one that has caused a positive stir in the Nigerian fashion industry. With a lot of fashion brands now engaging in the customization of leisure wear, with little or no idea of the fundamentals of fashion designing, Asawa has taken a different approach to the production of leisure wear with this collection.

The collection which is called Vera Pack is a luxury package of leisure wear. The question of originality may be raised, seeing that brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Addidas and Nike are luxury brands that have developed similar products. However, the spark in the Vera Collection is the creative prowess with which the creative director of the brand combined the vibrancy of the Western fashion ideology with the vigour of African textiles and fabrics to raise the bar. At a glance, one can exeprience the diversity of two cultures and connect with the synergy that each design manifested.

The collection featured sweatshirts, sweaters, joggers, 2 piece of leisure wear, jackets, cargo pants and others. The tailoring of each design was explicitly done, every helm rightly folded, and the line neatly arranged. Visually, it was not casual, and aesthetically, it had different details that amplified the style idea that was purposed for each. The collection was beautifully packaged and there were fits in different sizes to boost the confidence of every customer. Categorically, this is an artistic work of fashion as the concept of each design didn’t escape everyone who was at the launch.

“The Vera Collection is an intentional attempt to make African fashion global without straying away from design ideas and trends that are in vogue. I spoke with my team and it was a matter of choosing an existing idea and making it African in a very elegant way.”

The above quote was from the brand founder and creative director, Tobi Olabode while describing what inspired the Vera Pack Collection. Indeed, the designs fit the theme. The use of colour was daring with the match of the right fabric. The brand identity came alive with the packaging with each product packed in an ecofriendly box with a card to describe the details on it. For an exceptional prospect, Asawa has been able to set a standard with the Vera Pack, and there is no doubt that there is more to come.
