In its efforts to spread universal love, peace and unity, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has announced its plans to carry out charity works simultaneously in no fewer than 25 countries across the world.
The charity activities to be carried out by ‘God’s children’ in their countries of residence would involve giving out free food, clothes and other daily necessities to the poor and vulnerable people all over the world.
Spokesman of the BCS, Patriarch Christ Shepherd Amah Williams, announced the universal charitable activities at the weekend during a press conference in Umuahia, Abia State, to herald the 2023 celebration of the “divine manifestation” of the BCS Leader, Olumba Olumba Obu.
He said the charity works would take place on December 26, 2023, simultaneously in Nigeria, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Angola, Cameroon, Gambia, South Africa, Guinea Bisau, Haiti and Israel.
Other nations where BCS members would engage in simultaneous charity activities include Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, France, Benin Republic, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Republic of Niger, Uganda, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, among others.
Williams said the act of charity is in consonance with the mission of the BCS leader, which is “to establish God’s Kingdom and unite the human family in love.”
He explained that it was for this reason that Obu established the BCS, also known as the Christ Universal Spiritual School of Practical Christianity, with its world headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to him, “Daily, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu demonstrates to the entire world the true meaning of Christianity. He shows unimaginable love and compassion to the human family. He teaches and practices nothing but love and demonstrates peace, mercy, truth, meekness, faith, patience, forgiveness and godliness.”
The BCS spokesman said the BCS leader has through the divine institution “broken down the barriers of racism, and sealed the cleavage of religion by uniting the human family in love.”
He stated that apart from acts of charity, the 2023 edition of the weeklong celebration of the divine manifestation would also feature watching and praying, visit to orphanages and destitute homes the world over, as well as holding public lecture.
The BCS spokesman, who said that he was given “the mandate of our Holy Father to pass his message of goodwill to Nigeria and the entire world,” urged world leaders to heed the message of shared humanity.
He said: “As humanity continues to grapple with the challenges facing the human race such as the numerous deadly conflicts going on in all corners of the world, natural disasters and diseases, some of which have defied cure, we make bold to inform the world that the solution to all these crises lie in the teachings of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu.”
Williams emphasised that unless “leaders of the world embrace the divine precepts of the brotherhood of man, where all forms of discrimination shall cease to exist, and the fatherhood of God, where all men shall worship the one and only Living God as taught by Leader Obu, man shall continue to wallow in spiritual darkness.”
He lamented the decadent state of the world and humanity, saying: “Today’s society is full of crimes and brutality, and there is no peace in the world, even nature is not at peace with man.
“Immorality is at its peak as man continues to hold on to sinful and godless nature,” adding that there won’t be any headway without embracing the brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God.
He corrected the misconceptions that people hold about the BCS, explaining that “the name brotherhood means love, unity as well as the oneness of all God’s creation.
“It is not a political party, secret society, cult, or anything of the world. Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is nondenominational, non-sectional, and nongovernmental.”
