Tems Unlocks Closet for Charity

If there is something Tems (Temilade Openiyi) knows how to do aside from good music, it is certainly her ability to blend sexiness and elegance effortlessly. The Nigerian songstress has risen as a fashionista, sporting high end designer labels and turning heads at award shows.

Remember her “custom white sculptural gown” to the Oscars this year had everyone talking about the “controversial” dress at the 95th Oscar Awards, in which she was nominated for her work with Rihanna on the “Wakanda Forever” track ‘Lift Me Up’.

The “Crazy Things” crooner recently hosted a successful wardrobe sale, where she offered fans and fashion enthusiasts a chance to pick from her closet. This was the second of her yearly wardrobe sales and harmonious blend of music and style, a true reflection of the artist’s creativity.

Noteworthy, the singer intends to donate 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale to charity projects under Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF). The singer expressed her desire to not only collaborate with the organisation but also to bring awareness to its goals through her wardrobe sales.   

Tems revealed that prior to the sales, “I’ve been planning for this sale where every year I sell out my closet, worn and unworn, tagged and untagged, all my bags, all my glasses, all my boots all my shoes. I just cleanse myself of everything I’ve ever bought that year and I do it annually.” 

By doing so, Tems believes she could simultaneously tackle her shopaholic tendencies and contribute to causes that need attention.

“I decided to start doing that last year because first off, I think I’m a shopaholic. I’m acknowledging the problem you see,” she added.
