Imo State Commissioner of Police(CP), Aboki Danjuma, rising from crucial security meeting with strategic police managers in the state has assured residents of watertight security across the State for the Yuletide season.
In a release, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, stated that those in attendance at the security meeting comprised Area Commanders; Divisional Police Officers, (DPOs) and Tactical Teams Commanders, where they all affirmed to work in line with the Imo State Command’s steadfast dedication to providing adequate security for all and sundry in the State
“During the meeting, contingency operational plans that will guarantee the peaceful celebration of Christmas and New Year across the length and breadth of the State as well as the smooth flow of traffic were strategically emplaced”, he stated.
Earlier in the month, CP Danjuma had assured Imo residents and those in the Diaspora wishing to return home for the festive seasons of their maximum safety and security.
He further enjoined them to collectively work towards sustaining the peace and security in the state by being security conscious and reporting any suspicious person seen or clandestine activity observed within their vicinity to the nearest Police Station or via 08034773600 or 08098880197
The CP further reiterated that the ban on the sale or use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics or knockouts as it is commonly known remains in place and is in the best interest of all, adding that violators will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Danjuma urged traders to refrain from the sale or use of any form of fireworks as it threatens the public peace and security in the State. He noted that the use of fireworks is capable of creating apprehension and distractions that could potentially create opportunities for hoodlums to perfect a criminal act and may also lead to fire outbreaks, especially in this season of Harmattan.
