The Organised Labour in Ekiti State has dissociated itself from a statement circulating on the social media regarding a meeting with the Head of Service (HoS).

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Mr. Kolapo Olatunde, Sola Adigun and Femi Ajoloko respectively, the labour leaders condemned the action of the purveyor of the fake news for trying to instigate workers against government.

It reads:”The attention of the Organized Labour in Ekiti State has been drawn to a malicious statement being circulated on social media by faceless individuals with the caption “The Outcome of the Meeting Between the Organised Labour and the HOS” wherein the labour leaders and Head of Service were blackmailed.

“We wish to state emphatically without mincing words that the statement was fake and did not originate from any of the labour unions, be it NLC, TUC and JNC.

“The said statement was cooked up by third columnists and evil minded souls who are bent on destroying the good relationship between government and Ekiti state workers, hence it should be totally disregarded,” it stated.

Though the labour leaders agreed to have held a meeting with the HoS, they noted that the purveyor and peddlers of the fake news goofed about the subject of discussion.

“The meeting which was at the instance of both the organised labour and the HoS was to acknowledge the leadership qualities of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, particularly towards the workers and to strengthen the already existing relationship between the government and the labour leaders.

“At no time did the HoS and labour leaders condemn the governor. The comments ascribed to the HoS as regards the relationship with the commissioner for finance was the figment of imagination of the writer just to attract cheap sympathy and achieve their ulterior motives,” the statement said.

The labour leaders warned those it described as evil masterminds to desist, while appealing to members of the public to disregard the statement.
