Two Die in Fresh Attack by Suspected Members of Boko Haram in Adamawa

Two people have been killed while others sustained gunshot injuries with one hospitalised following the attack on the Kwapre community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Christmas eve by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
According to an eyewitness in the area, the attackers stormed the affected area on motorcycles, invaded the community around 8 p.m. and started shooting sporadically scaring the inhabitants and neighbouring communities to flee for safety.
The eyewitness said the attackers also carted away food items, medicine and other valuables
“The inhabitants of Kwapre and surrounding communities are now fleeing the area for fear of the unknown,” the eyewitness said.
Also, the District Head of Dugwaba, Mr. Simon Buba, also confirmed to journalists that two persons were killed during the attack.
He called on military authorities to step up their strategy to end the fight against insurgency in the North-east region.
Meanwhile the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident yesterday to THISDAY, saying necessary efforts by the police are being put in place to arrest the perpetrators.
He called on the people not to panic, but give useful information on the identity of those behind the attack.
According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Babatola Afolabi, has deployed officers and directed an investigation.
He urged the public to report any suspicious character to the police and other security agencies to ensure security in the state and country at large.
