Ekiti Accord Party Sacks State Chair over Anti-party Allegations

The Accord Party in Ekiti State has sacked the state chairman of the party, Chief Abiola Odeoba, after eight years of holding the office.
A press release that emanated from an emergency meeting of all the 16 Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen of the party in the state yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, said that the leaders had resolved that Chief Odeoba lacks the capacity to continue leading the party in the state having allegedly committed certain misconduct against the progress, development and growth of the party.
They therefore, passed a vote of no confidence on him and declared him dismissed.
The state chairmen also elected a seven-man committee in the interim to fill the vacuum and continue to lead the party with immediate effect.
The press statement, entitled : “ Vote of no confidence passed on the leadership of Chief Odeoba,” which was co-signed by the party leaders, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, reads in part: “We hereby pass VOTE of no confidence on the leadership of Chief Abiola Odeoba as the state chairman of this great party, base on the allegations of gross misconduct in various instances to mention but few as follows : “No executive meeting held since the last governorship election held on the 25th February 2023; : Not accountable: since his inception as the chairman of the party, he hasn’t accounted for the financial status of the party.
He lacks the capacity to lead a party of this magnitude by his ultrances and mental alertness; diversion of palliatives and other incentive materials meant for the party masses ;turning party activities to personal estate by representing party membership with friends and families in recent outings ; no value addition : since his leadership as the chairman of the party, he hasn’t produce any simple elective position even ward counselor: the last local government election is a further evidence of negligence where no party leader was properly briefed on why the party should boycott the election he unilaterally agreed to boycott the election, and finally no transparency : since his leadership as the chairman, he has failed to present and transparent account.
The members of the new Caretaker Committee elected by the 16 chairmen included: Adeniji Akinropo Philip, (chairman), Erelu Adesola Ayorinde aka Mama Educom (state party leader) Bamgbola Dawood, (Treasurer) Oladunjoye Abiodun, (Organising Secretary) Komolafe Sunday, (Secretary) Olubumi Johnson (member) and Fasae Sunday (member).
Reacting to the development via a telephone interview, Chief Odeoba said: “ I am not aware of such development. They didn’t inform me about it. As far as l am concerned, l am still the state chairman of Accord party in Ekiti State. According to the last Primary we had l was elected and my name is on INEC register.
