A former Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Prof. Femi Mimiko, says the recent increase in the international education ecosystem benefits students and home countries if properly calibrated.
Mimiko stated this at the International Education Africa Summit and Award Event. He explained that since the world is now tending to the knowledge economy.
In his keynote titled, ‘Finding The Nexus Between Brain Drain, Socio-Political Situation in Africa, and Human Capital Development’, he noted that many advantages exist in the international education ecosystem for individual students and their home countries if appropriately calibrated.
The TINE convener and programme coordinator, Louis Adekola, said colleagues in the industry would glean from the expanse of knowledge within the international education system in Africa to co-create a sustainable future for the industry.
“In a year marked by several policy changes and unprecedented challenges, the international education industry in Africa has not only survived but thrived,” said Adekola. “The surge in the number of African students in overseas institutions, although influenced by socio-economic realities, also mirrors the industry’s collective strength and the resilience of study abroad practitioners within the continent.”
