Ndidi Out for Three Months, Iheanacho Doubtful for Nations Cup
Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca, delivered disheartening news on the injury front ahead of the anticipated clash against Millwall, revealing that both Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and star forward Kelechi Iheanacho will be sidelined due to injuries.
In a press conference conducted at Seagrave yesterday, Maresca disclosed that Ndidi is expected to face an extended period of absence, possibly up to three months, due to a significant muscle injury.
This development deals a considerable blow to Leicester City’s midfield strength.
Maresca was quoted as saying on Leicester City’s official webpage: “It looks like a muscular problem, but an important one, so we will see in the next hours, but the situation for Wilf is probably the clearest one.”
Compounding the challenges, star forward Kelechi Iheanacho will also be absent from the upcoming FA Cup clash against Millwall. Maresca confirmed that while Iheanacho’s recovery is progressing, he is not yet fit for competitive action.
“The only thing I can say is that Kel is still injured. It’s getting better, but it’s still not 100 percent; otherwise, he would be in the squad for tomorrow, and he’s not in the squad,” Maresca commented on Iheanacho’s status.
Ndidi, a pivotal figure in Leicester City’s campaign, has played a crucial role in their bid to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Despite the setback, the Foxes currently hold a commanding 10-point lead at the top of the Championship standings, highlighting their strong contention for a return to the top flight.
