The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Lagos chapter, has emphasised the need for ethical recruitment process, declaring its importance to overall productivity of businesses and nations’ economy. It also stressed a non- discriminatory recruitment policy, which ensures that processes of hiring and selection of talents are transparent.

The association in a communique issued at the end of its 6th anti-fraud conference/investiture ceremony, recently, drew attention to prevailing ethical issues in human resource management and their consequences on economy. According to the association, practising unethical recruitment was toxic, noting that it had been linked to exploitation, discrimination, and abuse and violation of fundamental human rights. It noted that on the contrary, embracing ethics remained beacon of hope in ensuring that rights were respected and upheld.

“Ethical recruitment practices ensure fair treatment, equal opportunities, and safe working environments, directly impacting the quality of life for workers and their families,” it stated.

The association went ahead to address tax issues, urging organisations to regularly check their compliance level to avoid facing legal issues.

“Taxpayers need to meet their tax obligations as prescribed by the tax laws and related regulations/by-laws. They can identify any slightest issues through a comprehensive review of tax compliance and treatment by taxation area and major accounts based on the understanding of management activities and industry-specific issues,” it said.
