Sokoto Gov Has Capacity, Will to End Banditry, Says APC Chair

The Sokoto State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Isa Sadiq Acida, has said the state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has the capacity and political will to tackle the security challenges bedeviling the state.

Acida stated this while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Sokoto.

He congratulated the governor on the occasion of his recent 54th birthday celebration, described his performance in office within seven months of his administration as awesome and worthy of commendation in every quarters

The APC chairman said the governor has proved critics wrong by being constantly around and in touch with the people, “feeling their purse and attending to their needs, rather than shuttling between local and foreign destinations and become an absentee governor.

“In the area of security, you have proven your commitment to securing the state through collaboration and cooperation with security agencies at state and federal levels.

“Your assistance to the security agencies, and the provision of the right caliber of vehicles have been severally applauded, even by the highest echelon of the military.

“The collaboration has begun to bear fruit as the bandits are now being pursued in their hideouts and attacked, while several of their innocent victims are constantly being freed.

“The initiative of enacting a law to establish community guard corps and providing them with adequate transport and armaments is another giant stride to end banditry and enthrone a secure and peaceful Sokoto State in 2024.”

He also commended the governor for infrastructural development which includes the ongoing construction of another 500 housing estate in Wakaje village area of Wamakko Local Government Area in addition to the completion of another 500 abandoned housing estate by the previous administration.

Acida, however, called on opposition parties in the state to join hands with the administration, saying the governor has promised to complete all the ongoing inherited projects by the previous administration.
