German Group Names Ex-Abia Lawmaker Country Director for Nigeria

A former member of the Abia State legislature, Hon Obinna Ichita, has been appointed the Country Director/Principal Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer eV in Nigeria.
His appointment was announced in a statement signed by the Board Secretary, Daniel John Ferris, saying the appointment took effect on January 8, 2024, while “all relevant authorities have been notified of this development.
“It is my pleasure to announce that approval has been granted for the appointment of Obinna Ichita as the Country Director/ Principal Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer eV in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
According to the board secretary, the new country director would work “in partnership with the relevant authorities, stakeholders and our development partners in the host country.
“He is also vested with the responsibility to coordinate and direct all the activities of our agency with a view to achieving our aid and development agenda in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, in a statement issued in Umuahia, Abia State, last Monday, Ichita, who was the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2023 general elections in Abia State, expressed delight over his appointment.
He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had a hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently.
Itchita represented Aba South constituency in the state House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023 on the platform of APGA and became the running mate to Prof Gregory Ibe in the 2023 poll.
He listed what Nigeria stood to benefit from the agency to include agriculture, information technology, science and mathematics, hydro carbon, engineering and artificial intelligence, among others.
