S/Court Verdict: Party Supporters, Mammoth Crowd Welcome Governor Mohammed to Bauchi

The Bauchi State the capital, Bauchi, was at the weekend thrown into a celebration mood as unprecedented crowd of supporters of the state Governor, Bala Mohammed, and other residents rejoiced over his victory at the Supreme Court.
THISDAY observed that the ecstatic residents of the state thronged to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport to receive Governor Mohammed following his affirmation at the Supreme Court as the duly elected governor of Bauchi State.
It was also learnt that in the streets of the state capital, right from the airport to the Government House, thousands of supporters of the governor, including some non -members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) celebrated the verdict with singing and dancing on major roads of the Bauchi metropolis.
At the airport, Governor Mohammed was warmly received by the PDP stakeholders, government officials in the state led by the Deputy Governor, Hon Auwal Jatau, as well as other well-wishers of the governor.
Many elated residents of the state came out in their thousands on the streets of the state capital, chanting solidarity songs and dancing, raising placards to express their joy over Mohammed’s victory at the apex court, a development that further testified to his strong popularity and wide acceptance by the people of state.
The arrival of the governor to the state was greeted with a rally held in his honour that lasted for almost two hours. The rally took off with a convoy that commenced from the Awala Roundabout, moving through the streets of the city,
The governor, his wife, the deputy governor and other senior government officials mounted an open van where they waved to thousands of cheering supporters, as the convoy moved through Ran road up to the Emir’s palace down to Nasarawa gate and terminated at the Government House in Bauchi.
Reacting to the outcome of the judgment, Deputy Governor Jatau welcomed the triumphant victory at the Supreme Court against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial candidate, Retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on the victory of the PDP in the outcome of the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Jatau congratulated his principal, Governor Mohammed on their victory which he described it as a testament to their administration’s indomitable spirit and tireless efforts towards the total transformation of the state into a beacon of development and inclusive governance.
The deputy governor noted that: “With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed its position as the ultimate arbiter of truth, fairness, and the rule of law. Our faith in the judiciary has been further strengthened, as they have boldly upheld the collective will of the people, safeguarding the integrity of our electoral process.”
He added: “Let us all commend the Justices who have demonstrated their unwavering dedication to the pursuit of justice and the preservation of our democratic values.”
“On behalf of myself, my family, my staff, my political associates and the government and the people of Bauchi State, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to our visionary leader, Governor Mohammed on our triumphant victory at the Supreme Court.
According to him, “We hail the tireless efforts and exemplary leadership of our governor. His commitment to the welfare and progress of the people of Bauchi State has been an inspiration to us all. We recognise his countless sacrifices, his strength in the face of adversity, and his unwavering belief in the principles that underpin our democracy.
“As we celebrate this resounding victory, we are grateful to the good people of Bauchi State. Their unwavering support, resilience, and trust have played an invaluable role in this triumph. It is their belief in the ideals of justice, fairness, and democracy that has propelled our leader to this historic win.”
The deputy governor further said: “You, the people, are the heartbeat of our democracy, and it is your voices that have resonated through the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court.”
He then reaffirmed his unflinching loyalty and support to Governor Mohammed towards ensuring prosperity, progress, and inclusive governance in the state for the betterment of every citizen and the promotion of unity, security, peace, and harmony.”
