Uzoma Johnson, the creative director and founder of Kokamz Couture, reflected on a remarkable 2023 that included a successful popup sale at Birmingham City in the United Kingdom. The Biochemistry graduate from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, showcased her impeccably tailored and sophisticated designs to African fashion enthusiasts, leading to a global connection.
Describing her experience, the mother of four expressed that the popup sale was an eye-opening encounter that fueled her determination to push further in the fashion industry. “The pop-up sales I did at Birmingham City UK was an eye-opener to keep pushing for more because it connected me to the world. Since then, I have had clients calling for Kokamz outfits outside my region,” she shared.
As a Fashion Entrepreneur, Uzoma Johnson is committed to contributing to the fashion world through various activities, including creating preliminary sketches of fashion pieces, converting rough sketches into computerized drawings, developing new designs and fashion lines for each season, and sourcing unique supplies from textile providers and manufacturers.
Inspired by industry leaders such as Zara Kids, Vicky James, and Toskyme House of Fashion, Uzoma attributes her success to qualities like patience, politeness, investment in modern styling, creativity, and innovation. Kokamz Couture focuses on children aged 0 to 17, aiming to provide tailored fashion experiences for this demographic.
