NSCIA, MURIC Reject Same Sex Marriage, Other Anti-social Behaviour
Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja
The Nigeria’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, (NSCIA) and Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) have condemned all forms of anti-social behaviour in the form of lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender, queer , among others. They described the lifestyle as evil and against the teachings of Islam.
Leaders of NSCIA and MURIC bared their minds on yesterday at the national conference organised by the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria.
The conference which was held at the National Mosque, Abuja with the theme: “Matters arising from 2023 election and associated socio-economic challenges, also assessed the performance of the Tinubu-led administration.
They accused the government of marginalising of Muslims appointments despite their support for Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“It is now more like Christian-Christian ticket. Because the major appointments all go to Christians,” the scholars said.
Speaking to journalists, Executive Director of MURIC , Prof Ishaq Akintola said LGBTQ had become one of the issues that exposes the evil of the West.
He said: “The West tells us that we should marry only one woman and the same West their men go about having tens of concubines, that same one woman they said you should marry experience victims of divorce.
“ And 80 per cent out of hundreds of marriages in the West are shattered. Children demonstrate indiscipline of the highest order. Imagine a lady of maybe 18-20 years, probably from America or so went to court to sue her parents for bringing her into this world without her consent.
“So we should be accessing them from this angle that what kind of moralities is the West preaching? LGBTQ, man to marry man and woman to marry woman.
“There are certain countries in the West too today that are looking for ways to boost their population and yet they are talking about LGBTQ and they want us to legitimise it. It is Satanism, it is not civilisation but those signs are mentioned in Isaiah chapter 4, that the end of the world would come before the world will come to an end and it corresponds with the signs Islam also sees about the end of the world.”
Speaking in the same vein, Deputy Secretary of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, (NSCIA) Prof. Salisu Shehu expressed worry that LGBTQ was spreading so fast because of the influence of information and communication technology especially the social media. He said that the youths were much more attune to the social media.
“It is spreading especially among the youths very rapidly and we have to be proactive.
“It effects on society generally whether you are a believer in any religion or none religion we should appreciate the fact that LGBTQ is a monumental unprecedented sexual perversion that has the potent of destroying humanity in it entirety.
“It is going to designate human varieties. There is nothing that come to the human that is as evil as the LGBTQ.
“So I’m calling on the religious bodies like the Supreme Council for Shari’ah and others that they both should embark on what I call massive and comprehensive sensitisation and advocacy,” he said.
