Police Apprehend 37 Suspects, Seize Weapons in Lagos

In a decisive move against criminal activities in Lagos State, the state Police Commissioner, Adegoke Fayoade, said the state Police Command has successfully apprehended 37 suspects involved in crimes ranging from armed robbery and stealing to cultism and unlawful possession of firearms.
In a statement issued and signed by the state Commissioner of Police, Fayoade, it revealed that the outcome of these operations did not only result in the removal of these individuals engaging in criminal activities but also led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons.
He said: “In total, 16 firearms, including an alarming toy pistol, 72 live cartridges, and 75 live ammunition were confiscated by law enforcement agents.
“The diversity of weapons seized highlights the seriousness of the criminal activities disrupted by the police. The recovered items also include various weapons and tools that could have been used to perpetrate further crimes.”
Among the standout cases mentioned by the commissioner were instances of armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, conspiracy, and cultism.
He added: “Notably, the swift response of the police resulted in the arrest of suspects linked to the invasion at Iju-Ishaga; the recovery of a snatched AK47 rifle, and the capture of a notorious cult leader, Olamilekan Tajudeen, also known as Ebila.”
The commissioner underscored the commitment of the Lagos State Police to ensuring the safety and security of residents, adding: “Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face legal action once the inquiry is concluded.”
