Supreme Court Victory: Omo-Agege, Isoko North PDP Congratulate Oborevwori

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the Supreme Court.
Omo-Agege, in a statement he personally signed, said it has been a long-drawn-out struggle to offer Deltans the best in the governance of the state and asked Deltans to respect the Supreme Court decision and give their best to promote peace everywhere in state.
Similarly, the Isoko PDP leadership, who met at the at the Ozoro Country home of the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor, thanked God for the victory of the governor and the party.
While saying it is about the collective interest and good of the people and not their personal interest, Omo-Agege said the governor having now received the Supreme Court’s seal of approval, should receive his well wishes as a democrat.
“May the good Lord guide and abide with you and give you good health, strength and wisdom to govern our state well in Jesus’ name.
“The Supreme Court disallowed our appeal in respect of the March 18, 2023, Delta State Governorship Election and affirmed the return of Hon. Sheriff Oberevwori as the duly elected Governor of Delta state.
“As the final court of the land, all citizens are bound to accept and abide by its decisions even if they do not accord with their personal or collective expectations of justice,” Omo-Agege said.
Also a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP in the state, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, described the verdict of the Supreme Court as the ultimate triumph of the will of the people of Delta State as expressed at the polling units in their resolve to continue with the good work of the party in the state.
Reacting to the governor’s victory, Onuesoke, who spoke to journalists by the sideline at the premises of the Supreme Court in Abuja after the deliverance of the judgement, rejoiced with Oborevwori.
The PDP chieftain enjoined all Deltans, especially politicians to get down to the business of rebuilding Delta State with the final seal on the Oborevwori’s victory as affirmed by the Supreme Court judgement.
He maintained that what the Supreme Court did was not just to affirm the validity of Oborevwori’s mandate, but a call to duty adding “This is not a victory for Oborevwori alone or any political party. This is an admonition for us to collectively work towards fixing Delta State for the betterment of the polity.”
Similarly, a group under the auspices of Elites for Good Governance (EGG) urged the former governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori to unite the people of Delta State as well as support the governor, and his MORE Agenda to move the State forward.
EGG National President, Ogie Samson, made the appeal while reacting to the Supreme Court judgement affirming the election of the state governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
“We are using this medium to appreciate Chief Onanefe James Ibori to continue his good work and also to make him understand that he is a father to the State and that as a father. We expect him to unite the State because we are also looking up to him for continuous support for RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the good people of Delta State.”
Ogie appreciated the efforts of stakeholders supporting the developmental strides as well as the MORE Agenda of Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Board.
He said Governor Oborevwori has constructed major access roads and street lights.
Ogie, who is also the chairman of the Indigenous Contractors Forum in DESOPADEC, added that the governor had ensured “structural payments” as well as maintained a cordial relationship with the indigenous contractors in the Commission.
He therefore, appealed to the leaders and stakeholders to continue the support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his administration saying, he means well for the people.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the PDP Isoko North, while celebrating the victory of the governor, also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Hon. Leo Ogor, and the representation of member representing Isoko Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, member representing Isoko North State Constituency, Hon. Bernard Odior and Executive Director Finance and Administration, DESOPADEC, Chief Kome Okpobor for their effective leadership of the party in the area.
According to Ogor, it is a thing of joy for the governor to win all his court cases and thanked party faithful and leaders for supporting the party’s victory.
Ogor urged party faithful and Deltans to continue supporting the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori aimed at advancing Delta.
Motion for the vote of confidence was moved by State Legal Adviser of the PDP, Chief Isaac Atikueke and seconded by Hon. Joseph Otheremu.
While thanking Hon. Ukodhiko for his quality representation, the party urged him to emulate the impactful and leadership strides made by his predecessor, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor.
Welcoming the leaders earlier, Chairman of the party in the area, Prince Godwin Ogorugba, thanked God for the victory of the governor and commended the people for their support.
He said that with the legal battles now over, the governor would now focus on governance to provide good governance for the benefit of all Deltans.
In a related development, the member representing Isoko North State Constituency, Hon. Bernard Odior at the meeting appreciated leaders and party faithful for supporting his election into the State House of Assembly.
Hon. Odior, who was State Legal Adviser of the party in the state, paid glowing tribute to the leaders and party faithful for making his election victory possible.
