US Secretary Blinken Meets Tinubu at State House

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has arrived the State House, Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Blinken, who arrived the seat of government at about 6.55pm was received at the State House Forecourt by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, and his Information and National Orientation counterpart, Mohammed Idris.
Blinken is the highest-ranking official from President Joe Biden government to visit Nigeria since the January 25, 2023 poll that brought President Tinubu into office.
During his visit, Blinken is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Tinubu and some of his key appointees.
After the bilateral meeting;with the President, he is due to have a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, before his departure later this evening for Lagos where he will meet with the business community on Wednesday.
US Secretary of State’s week long African tour includes stops in Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Angola, focusing on discussions related to regional security, conflict prevention, democracy promotion, and trade.
The visit aims to underscore the Biden administration’s commitment to partnership with Africa, addressing issues like climate, economic investment, and food and health.
