The People Democratic party (PDP) has accepted the Supreme Court judgement on Sokoto governorship election in good faith, with a message to leaders and members of the party in the state to remain strong and committed to the unity and progress of the party.

A statement issued on Thursday by its State publicity secretary Hassan Sahabi Sanyiinnawal says as a law abiding political party, the PDP recognizes the Judiciary as the constitutional arbiter on issues regarding elections.

“Our party also strongly believes, it is solely by Divine will that power is acquired and sustained at appointed periods. We therefore enjoin members and supporters of the PDP in Sokoto State to exercise their traditional calm in respect for the rule of law”.

He further urged its members to remain committed to the progress of the PDP, as “our party dedicates itself to playing its role in the democratic governance of our dear state”. In connection to that, our party shall discharge its responsibility to the people of ensuring that their entitlement to service delivery is guaranteed by the government in power, accountably and transparently.

“We wish to express the party’s appreciation to our members and the entire people of Sokoto State for their support during the electioneering and legal processes. The PDP calls upon all stakeholders in the entire state to rededicate themselves to ensuring that the democratic ideal is adhered to in the business of governance in our state.

“The People’s Democratic Party prays for a stronger, greater Sokoto State and Nigeria, where peace and progress shall reign.”
