Adelami Now Officially Ondo Deputy Gov, Assembly Confirms

Ondo State House of Assembly, yesterday, screened and confirmed Mr. Olayide Owolabi Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had Wednesday announced the nomination of Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly as his deputy.
However, Adelami, who was confirmed at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji was sequel to the submission and consideration of a report by the house selection committee Chaired by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji.


Clerk of the assembly, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter sent to the House by Aiyedatiwa for the consideration of the nominees for the vacant position of a deputy governor.
While submitting the report, Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan recommended the confirmation of the appointment of the nominees whom he affirmed had been properly screened.


Akinruntan said the nominee responded to all questions raised by the committee in very eloquent and explicit order, noting that he had a clear understanding of the position and possess, the required academic qualifications, physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the task.
The Majority leader of the House, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominees be confirmed and was seconded by Felix Afe, representing Akoko North West 2.


Speaker Olamide, who ruled for the confirmation, however, congratulated the deputy governor-designate, urging him to put in his best and pledged the assembly’s support to the executive for the people to enjoy more democracy dividend.


In his response, Adelami appreciated Aiyedatiwa for nominating him, promising not to betray his emotion and the confidence reposed in him.
He also appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they put in place during the screening and confirmation, noting that promoting understanding between the two arms of government will be his priority.
