Onitsha Business School Founder, Prof Sogbesan, Receives Lifetime Achievement Award in Anambra

The Founder and Director General of Onitsha Business School, Prof Olusegun Sogbesan has received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Anambra Man of The Year Awards 2023.

This accolade comes after the collaboration between the Onitsha Business School and ISACA to empower students with globally in-demand skills and credentials in IT audit, cybersecurity, emerging tech, governance, privacy, risk, security, and data.

The partnership is in sync with ISACA’s global CommuniTY Day celebration every first Saturday of October as a way of giving back to society. Through its Abuja Chapter President, Emmanuel Omoke, the organisation powered a symposium at the Onitsha Business School.

For a job well done, the Anambra Man of The Year Awards (AMTY), which recognises excellence in various categories including academia, the legal profession, medicine, entrepreneurship, and real estate among others, found the acts of some individuals as noble.

Among such industrious individuals recognised for their unwavering efforts to the growth of the state is Sogbesan; hence, was given his flowers.

Sogbesan is an Ogun state-born prof, who relocated to Adazi-Ani in Anambra State in 1991.

Following his National Youth Service programme in the state, he stayed back in Anambra to empower the traders with the right information based on the gaps he identified from his many interactions with them.

Sogbesan had always believed that with the right exposure, information, and training, traders would live up to their highest potential. Thus, he established the Onitsha Business School.

The goal of this school was to empower traders with the right skills and tools for the 21st century.

He designed the Onitsha Business School (OBS) to harness appropriate educational resources to develop and train the massive pool of commercial, industrial, and entrepreneurial talents in and around the commercial city of Onitsha.

While the specific needs of the city and the state, particularly Nigeria, propelled the activities of the school, its focus and mission are to become an acclaimed centre for educational excellence.

It delivers a strategically crafted range of leadership, vocational, and business-related academic, professional, and skills-based programmes to a selected category of prospective students.

OBS helps students to understand the practical realities of the business world: the capabilities of managers and leaders are enhanced to address challenges.

Its training continues to expose participants to leading-edge thinking, thus, ensuring businesses have the strategic drive to succeed.
