GreenLight Initiative, with support from Leap Africa and the Nigerian Youth Future Fund (NYFF), has successfully organized a Youth Capacity Workshop in Abuja which is focused on Accountability in Governance.
The workshop according to a statement signed by the Communication Officer, GreenLight Initiative, Patience Agabi, marks a significant step towards fostering accountability in governance, with participants committing to serve as agents for accountability in achieving the Nigeria we want.
They noted that the workshop aimed to empower and educate Nigerian youth on accountability in governance through dynamic and interactive training sessions. Participants were equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively engage in holding leaders accountable and driving positive change in governance.
The event which was held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 in Abuja was attended by youths and youth leaders across FCT who are passionate about good governance and ready to make positive change in their communities.
Key highlights of the workshop included the presentation of findings from surveys and data collection efforts in Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory (F.C.T), providing valuable insights into the current state of governance accountability and areas needing urgent attention.
Moreover, the workshop delved into the concept of accountability in governance, ensuring participants understood their roles and responsibilities in holding elected officials accountable.
Practical strategies for youth participation in governance were discussed, emphasizing the importance of driving meaningful change in the political landscape.
