CAN Declares Better Days Amid Economic Hardship
Mary Nnah
As Nigerians continue to wallow amid the present economic hardship, the Chairman, Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State Chapter, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has assured that Nigerians will smile very soon.
He expressed optimism over the economic policies of the present government especially at the federal level, saying it will begin to improve the lives of the citizens and the narratives will be a positive one in the shortest possible time.
Addressing journalists during a press conference to announce the annual Inter-Denominational Divine Service, (IDDS) for this year scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 17, at the LAWNA Territorial Headquarters, Olorunda, Ketu, Lagos, Adegbite said, “No doubt, these are desperate and challenging times. Change is never an easy process neither does it come without some cost.
“Yes, we are sowing in tears at the moment, our time to reap in joy is just around the bend. Our painful perseverance will surely be rewarded in full with better and quality living.”
According to him, this year’s edition comes under the theme, ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory’, taken from Colossians Chapter 1 verse 27.
He said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will be the special guest of honour.
He noted further that thousands of Christian faithful from within Lagos State will be in attendance to praise God and pray collectively for the prosperity and stability of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
While commending the efforts made by the Lagos State and the giant strides being witnessed in the state, he said, “You all will agree with me, that prayer is an essential part of any human existence from one generation to another. The role of prayer in our country Nigeria and the peace we have enjoyed in Lagos State over the years cannot be overemphasised.
“Certainly, this is not the time to keep quiet or rest on our oars. It’s not Uhuru yet as there is much work to be done for us to get to our desired place of rest and comfort as a Nation.”
He assured the Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would deliver and restore good times to Lagosians through the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda and to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope vision respectively.
“We believe that coming together to pray and constantly putting all of these to God in prayers is the least we can contribute towards achieving the much-needed results,” he noted.
