Businesses operators and employees have been advised to prioritise their physical wellness, necessary to boost performance and productivity.
This was stressed in Lagos, during a recent Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) outreach put together by the Nigerian Business Coalition against AIDS (NiBUCAA) and Access Holdings Plc.
The outreach held on the sidelines of the just concluded Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
The programme saw over 10,000 persons screened and counselled across eight selected communities in Lagos state.
NiBUCAA’s Programs and Evaluation Officer, Tosin Akinrinade, said the activity was part of the coalition’s, “No Gree for HIV” campaign, aimed to promote HIV containment, health management, and safe sex practices.
“We are always proud to partner with Access Holdings to drive HIV/AIDS awareness and testing across the country. The organisation remains in the forefront of integrating sustainability; the delivery of social, economic, and environmental value in its business philosophy, and we are proud to be part of these efforts”, he said.
The screening exercise led to the discovery of 14 new cases, with the organisers distributed 13,000 pieces of condom and 5000 informational materials as part of preventing HIV spread and enhancing safety.
Remarking, a beneficiary from Iponri community simply identified as Gbefun, expressed appreciation over the gesture which according to him afforded him privilege of getting tested for HIV for the first time in his 45 years.
Communities that benefitted from the gesture included: Surulere, Ijora, Ajegunle, Igando, Lagos Island and Lekki Phase 1.
Others were Berger/Ojota, Apapa Road and the finish line of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon- Eko Atlantic- all in Lagos State.
