He explained that the 2024 CDEC with the theme, “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technolog,” was inspired by growing threats in digital space.
According to him, children should be given a voice in the midst of discussion around social media etiquette, privacy settings, and responsible online behavior
He explained that the competition commencing February 20, 2024, would enable students to articulate their solutions for Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape.
“The essay will explore students’ awareness of the vast opportunities for value and wealth creation, while also discussing the challenges digitisation can bring. Participating students will be challenged to discuss ways to keep themselves safe from digital threats.
“We understand now more than ever, the importance of empowering children to recognise threats and to address them with their parents and or guardians, while equipping them with the skills to protect themselves,” he said.
Speaking further, Head, Brands and Marketing, SystemSpecs Holdings Limited, Henry Eguabor, stated that the contest would avail Nigerians the opportunity to understand the perspectives of young ones on key developmental challenges.
“This provides an important opportunity to encourage our young minds to engage with issues of importance to their country”, he said.
