Kwara Tasks NYSC’s Members on National Development

The Kwara State Governor, Mr. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, yesterday urged the members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state to channel their skills, energies and talents towards national development.

AbdulRazaq stated this at the NYSC’s orientation camp at Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area, of the state during the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch ‘A’, Stream 1 of the Youths Corps members.

A total number of 1, 900 corps members comprising 1,050 females and 850 males were sworn-in at the Yikpata camp.

He also advised them to exhibit honesty, hardwork and discipline in the various trainings they would be exposed to in the course of their three weeks orientation exercise.

Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths Development, Mr. Abdulrasak Babatunde Alabere, the governor called on the corps members to keep the hopes and aspirations of the founders of the scheme alive by striving for the development and growth of Nigeria.

He said: “You are to adopt a serious and conscientious approach to the various activities of the orientation course in order to be able to face the numerous challenges of the assignments that lie ahead.”

Also speaking at the event, the state Commissioner for Youths Development and the Chairperson, State NYSC Governing Board, Hon. Nafisat Musa Buge, lauded the state government’s efforts towards making life more bearable to the corps members posted to the state.

Buge, who was represented by the Director Personnel Finance and Supply, Ministry of Youths Development, Mrs.  Funmilola Adenike Ajide, admonished the corps members to make discipline, commitment and humility their watchwords in order to complement the efforts of the NYSC.

She commended the camp officials for their hard work and selfless sacrifice at ensuring the safety of the corps members.

In his address, the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his support to the NYSC in the state

He also  appreciated the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youths corps’ service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.

Olaoluwa said: “You are further enjoined to comport yourselves in a disciplined and orderly manner, as all forms of unruly behaviours would not be tolerated on camp either from you or camp officials.”
