NYSC Threatens to Sanction Erring Corps Members
Francis Sardauna in Katsina
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned corps members against misconducts and threatened to sanction anyone found wanting in accordance with the provisions of the scheme bye-laws.
The Katsina State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Aisha Muhammad, gave the warning yesterday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members deployed to the state.
She explained that the scheme would ensure strict adherence to laid down rules and regulations while any aberrant corps member would face the camp court for appropriate sanctions.
While reminding the corps members that the orientation camp is a regimented environment, the coordinator implored them to participate fully in the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).
She said: “I enjoin you to obey all camp rules and regulations as any erring corps member will be referred to the camp court for appropriate sanction in line with the provisions of the NYSC bye-laws.”
She, however, said that a total of 1,343 corps members that comprised of 677 males and 666 females were duly registered for the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I orientation course “and have been responding positively to directives.”
In his remarks, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, assured the corps members that his administration would secure their lives and properties throughout their service year.
Radda, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Hon. Faruk Lawal-Jobe, admonished the corps members to shun cultism and other antisocial activities and contribute positively to the development of the state.
