Masari, Others Bag Federal Polytechnic Fellowship Award

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Daura, Katsina State, has conferred its fellowship on the former Governor of the state, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, for his contribution to the development of the school.
Masari was conferred with the award alongside the current Governor of the state, Dikko Umaru Radda, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
Others are the Emir of Daura, Dr. Faruq Umar Faruq, late Senator Mustapha Bukar (posthumous), and the former senator of the zone, Ahmed Babba Kaita..
They were conferred with the award during the institution’s maiden convocation, which was held at its take-off site in Daura, Daura Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Masari commended former President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the bill for the establishment of the institution and other awardees for their contributions.
He called on the rector of the polytechnic to put in more efforts in enrolling students in the school of vocational education, skill and professional development of the school to produce employers of “labour rather than job seekers”.
The former speaker of the House of Representatives said there was no better investment than investing in education, adding that Nigerians should not just acquire education to seek jobs but be productive in their professional fields.
He, however, assured the management of the polytechnic of the awardees’ readiness to continue to support and assist the institution within their powers for development to thrive.
Earlier, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Aliyu Mamman, said the awardees contributed enormously to the establishment and development of the institution.
While describing the contributions of the awardees to the institution as indelible, the rector urged them to sustain the tempo for the development and growth of the newly established polytechnic.
He however called on the state government to tackle the prevailing gully erosion at the permanent site and provide closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other relevant security gadgets for the institution.
