AFCON: Supporters club hails Tinubu, Shettima, Akpabio and Eno’s backup, honour

The keenly contested number one sporting competition on the African continent, African Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023, hosted by Cote D’Ivoire must have come and gone but memories still linger, in the light of this, the foremost supporters club in Nigeria, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC, yesterday, hailed President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate, Senator God’swill Akpabio and Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh for their massive backup and honour bestowed on the Super Eagles of Nigeria that came second and getting to the final of the competition.

The National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club Ambassador Samuel Ikpea, in a statement commended the President and other top Government officials including Nigerians and corporate organisations for the gigantic support they gave the Troost-Ekong-captained Super Eagles.

Ikpea said the gallantry of the Super Eagles is worthy of note and we’ll appreciated as they did not let the supporters club down including the over 200 million Nigerians including those in Diaspora for the encouragement and support they received during the tournament.

He said: “The Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC, is really overwhelmed by the strong backup and honour done on the Super Eagles by President Bola Tinubu, for personally, morally, materially, and financially supporting the Super Eagles who achieved a feat that many thought they would not be able to attain during the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, hosted by Cote D’Ivoire recently.

“The words of encouragement and charge the President gave also was part of the steps that took the amazing Super Eagles to the finals of the keenly competed AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire. Mr President, we sincerely appreciate you for this uncommon support for our national team despite they came second in the competition.

“The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima has done what we have never seen in the history of Nigerian football. Sir, you were physically present at the stadium in Cote D’Ivoire to give all your support and was a pillar for the Super Eagles, and your physical presence spurred the players and technical team to greater heights that made the Super Eagles to get to the final, which you did not hesitate to leave despite their challenges.
We appreciate you Sir.

“Also, we specially commend the President of the Senate, Senator God’swill Akpabio for his uncommon support and inspiration you gave to the Super Eagles, and it added value to their superlative performance during the competition.”

The NFSC boss also commended the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Eno for his words of inspiration for the Super Eagles.

He also commended the President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Mr Ibrahim Gusau and all the Super Eagles players and board members for the great efforts to the final of AFCON.

However, while thanking and appreciating the unity and massive support of Nigerians to the Super Eagles and the technical crew, therefore assured Nigerians a better performance come 2025, and that the Super Eagles will lift and bring the cup to them.
