Philanthropist Buys UTME Form for 500 Indigent Anambra Students
The Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Burundi, Mr. Paul Chukwuma, has paid for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration forms for 500 indigent students in Anambra State.
Chukwuma, a philanthropist and businessman, told journalists that the gesture was part of a larger initiative by him and Olivia University to promote education in Africa.
He said he understood how difficult things are for most families, especially with the current economic situation, and decided to assist students desirous of furthering their education but limited.
“I was not born with a silver spoon. I understand the fact that many students cannot afford to pay for their UTME fees which will ultimately kill their dreams.
“My desire is to help these students to also achieve their dreams and contribute to national development. This is just a part of a larger initiative, which Olivia University, Burundi, plans to undertake in Africa.
“Education is the most desirous transferable asset any generation needs to succeed. It has been proven that education unlocks innovation and productivity and guarantees generational productivity, and this is my vision for Anambra State, Nigeria and Africa,” he said.
