Ondo Governorship: Ex-SSG Collapses Structures for Ibrahim
Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ondo State, Princess Oladunni Odu, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in the late Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration and gubernatorial aspirant, has collapsed her structure to support a leading aspirant, Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim.
Odu made this known during a meeting with her Coordinators and some chieftains of the party in the South Senatorial District at the weekend in Okitipupa.
The former SSG has pledged to work and galvanise her group towards ensuring the success of Ibrahim in the April primary.
The Idepe-Okitipupa born politician directed her supporters under the “Iwajowa Political Group” to team up and start working with Ibrahim’s “Aseyori Group”.
It was learnt that Odu had earlier met with her supporters in the Central Senatorial District and directed them to work for Ibrahim’s victory at the party primary.
One of the Coordinators, Chief Alaba Onayajo, said “the Iwajowa Political Group has been directed by our leader and founder, Princess Oladunni Odu, to start working and mobilising for Ibrahim.
“The primary goal of Iwajowa Political Group now is to make sure Ibrahim emerges victorious in the April party primary and since we have received the instruction, work has started in earnest.
“As directed by Mama in the meeting, we are ready. We have resolved to work together with the Aseyori Group.”
The Iwajowa leader caucus meeting was attended by Hon (Prince) Banjo Ayelomi, Comrade Olusola Johnbosco , Chief Olasemojo’s o, Mrs Gbojubola (woman leader Ondo East), Hon. Aduwo Sehindemi. (State ex-officio), Hon. Ikuedowo Ayokunle (immediate past councilor ward 2 Okitipupa), High Chief Iwayemi Akinrinbola. (leader), Hon Orire Japhet, Hon Arikawe Gbenga, Mr Adesanoye Alaba (aka. chop alone) and five local governments women leaders
The former SSG had in September 2023 declared her intention to vie for the APC ticket in the November 16 governorship election.
Odu, 71, had since 1995 served at various times as commissioner with three different military administrations in Ondo State.
She also served as the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), before her appointment as the first female SSG in the history of Ondo state.
