Firm to Reward Teachers’ Dedication, Innovation
Grooming, a non-governmental organisation, is set to reward and encourage the efforts of teachers for their hard work, dedication and innovation.
In a statement, the spokespersons, Michael Adegoke and Orji Emmanuel, explained that the overall objective of the Grooming Award is to appreciate teachers who are making an impact and going the extra mile to execute laudable ideas, especially in underserved communities.
They stated that through the Grooming Endowment Teachers Appreciation Programme (GETAP), an initiative set up to support 12 deserving teachers, two each across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria, there is a ray of hope for teachers, especially those teaching in low-income communities in Nigeria to get their rewards here on earth.
“It is important to encourage the reduction of out-of-school children in Nigeria by encouraging the drivers in the sector,” said the statement.
The gesture, they noted, is to help alleviate some of the economic burdens the teachers face while carrying out their essential functions in society.
The criteria to qualify for the awards include applicants must currently be working in any undeserved and remote environment, must be teaching in a primary or secondary school, must show impact or innovation in teaching, must show passion and plans for continuity in the profession to help more children and encourage others in the field.
The applicant must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Successful applicants stand to win at least N200,000.
