Former THISDAY Reporter Writes Book on Depression

A former THISDAY Money Market Correspondent, Mrs Linda Eroke has announced that her book on depression and possible remedies will soon be presented to the general public.

In a statement, she said the rising cases of depression world-wide is a concern for everyone.

She said, “Depression is a mental disorder affecting millions of people in the world and must be taken seriously.  More importantly, the current economic situation in Nigeria has significantly increased the rate of depression and reduced the awareness rate.”

The author explained that low awareness rate is a major cause of mental health disorder in the country, which in most cases is recognised as mental illness. 

The author of the book titled, “Revealed! 9 Ways I Overcame Depression with Zero Budget,” noted that many people are affected by depression without knowing. 

According to her, depression cuts across different strata in the society noting that depression is a silent battle, which if left untreated can result to suicide.

Stressing the need for those affected to speak out and seek help, Eroke-okafor observed that people affected by depression most often fake being okay even when they are not. 

Speaking further, she noted that depression is most time underrated but those that are affected come out stronger with help and support. 

She said the book, which will be launched on March 31st is apt given the current economic situation of the country.
