The National Association of Seadogs – Pyrates Confraternity (NAS-PC) has reached out to key figures, including FCT Minister Nyesome Wike and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Director-General Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, expressing concerns about economic hardships faced by residents of Karmo-Sabo communities in Abuja.

In a statement issued yesterday by Capoon Sahara Deck Olamide Oni, of Abuja City Centre, NAS-PC highlighted the impact of the current economic downturn on these communities.

The organization used the occasion of International Women’s Day to shed light on the specific challenges faced by women in Karmo-Sabo. NAS-PC emphasized that addressing these challenges is crucial, aligning with the theme of International Women’s Day 2024.

Letters were also sent to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, as well as Senators and House of Reps members representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The letter stated, “As you are aware, Your Excellency, the recent economic downturn has left many vulnerable communities struggling to meet their basic needs, and Karmo-Sabo residents are no exception. The situation has been exacerbated by reports of food shortages and desperate individuals resorting to looting to feed their families.

“NAS-PC is a Nigerian charitable and humanitarian organization established in 1952 to promote a society that upholds human dignity and is just to all. We are committed to being the first responder when the community needs a hand.

“As we celebrate the upcoming International Women’s Day, we are using this opportunity to bring the attention of the government and relevant agencies to the issues faced in these communities and how they affect women. This is central to the theme of 2024.

“Therefore, we kindly request your assistance in alleviating the plight of the residents of Karmo-Sabo communities by providing food and other palliative measures to help mitigate the effects of the current economic hardship. Your leadership and support are essential in addressing this urgent humanitarian concern.”
