IWD 2024: AAAF.establishes Women Information, Innovation Centre in Lagos Markets
In commemoration of 2024 International Women’s Day, the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation and its partners, has established Women Information and Innovation Centre in two major markets; Mile12 International Market and Olugbede market, Egbeda.
Held at the market’s office complex,
Ademokun said the foundation wants women to be knowledgeable and empowered in everything that pertains to their business, adding that once they are informed, they will be able to partake and participate in many advantages government and private sectors have created for them.
Wishing every woman happy celebrations, Ademokun , a woman with three caps in advocacy said her wish for every woman is to be empowered to avoid failure once opportunity shows up for them, adding that a computer system is given to let them know that the World is changing and they can’t afford to remain static.
“If an average market woman is not ready to embrace technology, they go out of business particularly when we are talking about financial inclusion. If a woman is not empowered in technology, there is a possibility that your children will not be empowered and there will be a vicious circle of poverty. “
In his session with the women, the Coordinator Tax Justice Network, Lagos, Mr Mike Alade said opportunities are for those that prepare, hence the need for women to be knowledgeable in information.
Alade enlightened women and girls present on tax matters and opportunities in trust funds, BOI loans, Dangote funds, grants and many other opportunities which if they embrace the provision of computers provided for them, will transform their businesses.
Alade promised continuous training for them and encouraged the management of the markets to register at least 5000 women to enjoy the program.
Mrs. Rasheedat Usman, Lagos State Chapter Coordinator, Association of Nigerian Women In Business (ANWIB) in her session empowered the participants
emphasized the value of record-keeping in the digital age to ensure business profitability.
Responding to the gesture from the foundation, The chairman of Mile12 International Market, Lagos, Alhaji Shehu Usman Jubril thanked Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation and its partners for their kind heart towards Mile12 market as he congratulated the women on the celebration of International Women’s Day.
Represented by the market consultant, Mr Afolabi, Alhaji Jubril explained how their women have not been left behind in the past years and how different training they receive regularly from the government. private sectors and international organisations have made them stand out in their businesses.
“We are going to use the computer supplies to train our women on digital marketing so they can make more money. Once our women are making more money, it will empower them, and in return we are empowering the family and the nation at large”.
