Tambuwal to Tinubu: Listen to Cries of Nigerians
James Sowole in Abeokuta
The Senator representing Sokoto South at the 10th National Assembly, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to listen to the cries of Nigerians amid the harsh socio-economic realities citizens have continued to grapple with.
Tambuwal spoke in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital shortly after visiting Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 87th birthday.
The former Sokoto State governor urged Nigerians not to get despondent and not loose hope, as things would change for good.
In a statement by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, also spoke on the former president during the visit.
Reacting to the state of the nation, Tambuwal said Nigerians must continue to pray and do the right thing, including those in government and followers.
“My clarion call is to Mr. President as the situation is getting bad by the day. Mr. President should listen to the cries of Nigerians, the country is going through hard times, things have never been this bad.
“But, he sought this job and he got it, so, he needs to rally and make sure that things are put in better shape for the progress of Nigeria.”
On his visit to Obasanjo, the former governor said he had always been part of the family and coming to felicitate with him on his birthday was an annual thing.
“I came all the way to Abeokuta to come as I always do every year on his birthday. I pray with Baba for more good health, many more years of service to Nigeria and to humanity.
“He has been an enigma, he has been a great leader and a source of inspiration and indeed Baba has been a great leader not only in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa but, globally too. He is an international statesman, and we pray God keep him in good health.”
On his contributions so far on the floor of the National Assembly, particularly, as it affects his constituency, the Sokoto South Senator, Tambuwal said he would continue to give robust representation to his people.
