President Bola Tinubu has condemned the heinous incidents of abduction involving very vulnerable victims, internally-displaced persons in Borno State, and students in Kaduna State.
The President, in a release issued on Friday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, directed security and intelligence agencies to immediately rescue the victims and ensure that justice was served against the perpetrators of these abominable acts.
According to President Tinubu: “I have received briefing from security chiefs on the two incidents, and I am confident that the victims will be rescued. Nothing else is acceptable to me and the waiting family members of these abducted citizens. Justice will be decisively administered”.
The President sympathized with the families of the victims, assuring them that they would soon be reunited with their loved ones.
About 280 pupils, including teachers, of government schools in Kuriga, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state were abducted by bandits who invaded the secondary and primary schools in the community Thursday morning.
A member of the Kaduna state Vigilante Service (KADVS) was killed by the bandits in the acttack of the schools.
In far away Borno state, bandits also abducted about 200 people, mostly women and children, who had left IDPs Camps in search of firewood in Gamboru Ngala council area when they were ambushed near the border with Chad and taken hostage.
The abductions occured several days ago but were made known on Wednesday due to limited access to information in the area which had been the epicentre of Boko Haram terrorism.
