Tide Editor Emerges Fubara’s CPS

Rivers State Governor, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Mr. Nelson Chukwudi, the Editor-in-Chief of The Tide Newspapers, as his Chief Press Secretary.
In a statement signed yesterday and made available to journalists in Port Harcourt by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Boniface Onyedi, the appointment is to take effect immediately.
According to Onyedi, the new CPS is a veteran in journalism after actively put in about 34 years in the profession.
“This is to bring to the notice of Rivers people and the public that Governor Fubara has approved the appointment of Mr. Nelson Chukwudi as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor with immediate effect.”
He said: “Until his appointment, Chukwudi was the chairman, Editorial Board and Supervising Editor (Editor-In-Chief) of The Tide Newspapers, published by the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, and also a director in the Rivers State Civil Service since 2014.
“A core professional journalist, Chukwudi has had a trilling career spanning 34 years, covering various fields and beats from Reporter, Correspondent, Line Editor and Deputy Editor, and winning many awards of excellence in the industry.
“Chukwudi has attended many journalism courses and training opportunities in Nigeria and across four continents. He is an alumnus of United States Government International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) and also Thomson-Reuters Alumnus.
“A member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) since 1990, he has held leadership positions at The Tide Chapel, the Rivers State Council of the NUJ, and also served in national committees of the union.
“He has also been an active member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) since 2015.”
