Dantown Super Cup 2024 Wraps Up with Record-breaking Excitement
The 2024 edition of the Dantown Super Cup final match was held on March 10 at the football field of the NTA.
The grassroots football tournament, which kicked off on February 15 produced unprecedented sportsmanship from the 16 teams.
From these 16 teams emerged two finalists, Friends United FC and Joshua FC, with Friends United beating the opposing team 2:1.
The game was indeed one to have your jaws clenched and flying off your seats whenever a team came close to scoring.
In the semifinals, third place was won by the non-stop selected FC, which played against Legacy FC.
The sponsors and organisers of the football tournament, Dantown, were delighted that the game finally ended and lived up to expectations with the performances of the players, who displayed good sportsmanship on the field.
The COO of Dantown, Chimene Chinah, expressed his gratitude to his team and all who worked tirelessly to ensure the tournament’s success.
“It is fulfilling to see that what started as a simple discussion between my peers and me has now been actualised.”
He also stated that the Danrtown Super Cup is an initiative put in place to encourage the youth of the community to engage themselves in a competition that drives positivity, inspires youth empowerment, and steers them away from the pitfall of substance abuse and crime, above all, nurturing their football aspirations.
A total of N1.250m in prizes was given away that day, with the First-Place winner, Friends United FC, going home with a total sum of N600,000, the first runner-up, Joshua FC, N300,000, and the second runner-up Non-stop selected N200,000.
Individual awards were also given to exceptional team players. The best player received a N150,000 cash prize, and the highest goal scorer received N100,000.
