The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has directed immigration officers across Nigeria’s borders with neighbouring Niger to ensure that they are reopened in line with the presidential order.

The directive was given yesterday in a signed statement by the spokesman of the NIS, Kenneth Kure.
It said: “Following the directive from the federal government  to reopen borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has issued a directive to all comptrollers stationed at states and border commands along the Nigeria-Niger Republic border, to promptly ensure strict compliance and lift restrictions on human movements.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service assures the public of its unwavering dedication to facilitating safe and orderly border crossings while upholding the integrity and security of Nigeria’s borders.”

Nigeria had closed its border with Niger in the wake of military coup d’état ousting the democratically elected president of the country, Mohammad Bazoum.
