Maduka Okoye is Player of the Month
•Osimhen doubtful for Napoli’s trip to San Siro against Inter
Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has confirmed his new-found form after he was named Player of the Month by his Italian Serie A club Udinese.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international shot stopper played four Serie A games in the month under review, keeping clean sheets against Juventus and Monza.
Altogether he has made 12 appearances in Serie A for his club this season.
Okoye should now be in line for a return to the Super Eagles, where Stanley Nwabali cemented his place as No 1 after his heroics at the recent AFCON 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire.
Meanwhile, after a disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League, Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has suffered a muscle injury which could rule him out of today’s clash against Serie A table toppers Inter Milan.
Osimhen has trained alone as he struggles to be fit for Napoli in time for Sunday’s clash at the league leaders.
The former Lille forward currently has 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
The Naples-based side will now have to look towards Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone for goals should Osimhen fail to make the cut this evening.
