CLO Calls on Tinubu, Govs to Sit Up

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Akwa Ibom State chapter, has called on President Bola Tinubu and governors in the country to be alive to their responsibilities in the face of mounting hardship and insecurity.

A statement from the Akwa Ibom State branch of the organisation expressed dissatisfaction with the current handling of the economy and increasing rate of violent crimes across the country.

The statement which was endorsed by the state chairman of the CLO, Barrister Godknows Njoku and Vice Chairman, Comrade Eridiong Obong, said increasing cases of hardhip-related suicides across the country remained a reflection of how difficult it has become for Nigerians to survive and meet their daily needs.

“The rate of hunger occasioned by increasing inflation has become unbearable and can lead to civil crisis. Unfortunately most of our politicians live in affluence while the masses wallow in poverty and hunger,” the statement said.
