Layi Wasabi Recognized As Meta’s Creator Of Tomorrow For His Creativity
The 22 year old creator and skit maker was recognised alongside four other creators who are sparking a new wave of creativity and community on Instagram.
Layi Wasabi has been spotlighted as one of the most prolific emerging creators on Meta’s new campaign, Creators of Tomorrow. The campaign, which is the first of its kind, shines a spotlight on five emerging creators in Nigeria: Layi Wasabi, Tobeszn, Iphe, Rodney, and Love Pever.
According to Layi, this recognition is not one he takes for granted. “I’m honored to be recognized alongside everyone on this list,” he shared. “I put in a lot of work and passion into creating the kind of content I think my audience will love and it’s thrilling to see that being rewarded especially on a stage as big as Meta.”
Layi, who started making funny skits in 2020, has solidified himself as one of the most promising emerging creators in the country. The creator, who is most popular for his depictions of The Law; a witty, sarcastic lawyer navigating his various clients, is now one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising comedy skit makers with about 2 million followers on Instagram.
Olufemi Oguntamu, CEO of Penzaarville Africa, the media agency managing Layi, believes that this recognition by Meta is well-deserved for the creator. “Layi has a unique talent for creating funny yet relatable content and that is what keeps him as one of the people’s favorites,” he said. “He’s a hardworking and tenacious creator and the team is glad to see all of his work pay off.”
Meta, the tech company behind Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, partnered with Pulse Nigeria on this Meta Creators of Tomorrow campaign to platform creators who are utilizing Instagram to create fresh, original content that people love, and building communities.
According to Fiona Weeks, Managing Director at Pulse Nigeria, this partnership is important in order to welcome the creators of tomorrow and shine the light on Nigeria’s emerging creative talent to the extensive digital audience across the country.
