7gongs Partners HCC On IWD Workshop For Girls

Lagos, Nigeria – As part of activities to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day, 7gongs, an Africa-focused public relations and strategic communications consultancy, held a personal development workshop at Holy Child College (HCC), Ikoyi, to equip students with skills that will enhance their success outcomes in life.
The workshop, tagged Shaping Brand You, aims at equipping teenage girls with the right mix of information and support they need to navigate the critical but often confusing teenage years so they can become effective adults. The HCC event was the inaugural edition.

Speaking on the workshop, Nedum Omafodezi, Chief Operating Officer of 7gongs, said: “Shaping Brand You is a 7gongs CSR initiative aimed at inspiring young girls for success. It feeds into the wider global efforts for women’s empowerment by providing the upcoming generation of women with the tools they need for both self- and group agency so they can confidently launch out and pursue their aspirations.

“The 2024 IWD theme: #InspireInclusion, provided us with an excellent launch platform as we consider teenage girls a key demography within the community of women. The teenage years is a transitory phase typically characterized by a lot of confusion regarding self-identity and social roles as girls make the shift from childhood to young adulthood. We are optimistic that the learning gained from these workshops will help the participants in understanding and successfully navigating this phase of life and set them on the right path to actualizing their ambitions as well as becoming effective members of society.”

According to Henry Omafodezi, Chief Executive Officer of the company, “As an Africa-focused public relations firm, 7gongs is committed to helping organisations and other stakeholder entities position themselves for success. This is the motivation behind Shaping Brand You and this partnership with Holy Child College, a foremost girls secondary school in Nigeria, to host the maiden edition of the workshop.”

“According to available data, women contribute less than 36% of Nigeria’s GDP despite representing about half of the country’s adult population. This difference in income distribution causes them to become excluded from opportunities that will improve their outcomes in life thereby keeping generations of women and their dependents locked within the poverty cycle. It is our firm belief that early-stage interventions such as this will offer the Nigerian girl-child a credible platform to step into adulthood with the confidence and skills they need to excel,” he added.

Founded in 2019, 7gongs is a Lagos-based public relations consultancy helping ambitious organisations grow their influence across Africa. The Shaping Brand You workshop was sponsored by Unilever and FoodCo.
