EXPERT CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO ENFORCE LEGISLATION

A renowned cybersecurity expert, Jumoke Eluwa has called on government to enforce cybersecurity legislation to combat rising cyber threats effectively.

She made this known in a media briefing recently, highlighting the urgent need for government to take decisive action by enforcing cybersecurity legislation.

Eluwa emphasized the importance of government intervention in addressing cybersecurity challenges.

“In today’s digital age, cyber threats pose significant risks to businesses and individuals alike. Enforcing cybersecurity legislation is essential to establish clear guidelines and hold organizations accountable for safeguarding sensitive data and digital assets,” she stated.

Furthermore, Eluwa outlined the key role that governments can play in enhancing cybersecurity measures.

Eluwa also stressed the importance of incentivizing organizations to prioritize cybersecurity.

“Offering incentives such as tax breaks or grants can encourage businesses to invest in robust security measures and adopt proactive approaches to threat mitigation.” she said.

She firmly asserts that, “Government can support research and development initiatives aimed at advancing cybersecurity technologies and methodologies.”
