In a bid to integrate technological advancements into media practice, Senema Production Limited has urged female journalists to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to elevate their reporting capabilities.
Speaking during a media workshop held in collaboration with the Women in Media Development Initiative (WMDI) recently in Abuja, Lead Consultant at Senema Production Limited, Emmanuel Ohiomokhare, emphasised the necessity for journalists to adapt to the changing landscape of the industry.
Ohiomokhare noted that despite several opportunities in the media, many traditional media practitioners have been reluctant to adapt, allowing non-media individuals, such as citizen journalists, to capitalise on emerging opportunities adding that it is imperative that genuine media professionals to embrace these changes and seize the opportunities they present.
Life is an ongoing lesson, and we must evolve with the times.
“One of such innovation is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into media practices, which holds immense potential for revenue generation among women in the media.
“In light of the challenging economic climate in Nigeria marked by dwindling spending power and rising poverty rates, now is the opportune moment to leverage available opportunities,” he added.
The guest speaker and facilitator, Esther Ilesanmi, on her part, stated that women in the media should invest in themselves more first if they want to gain extra income and remain relevant, adding that they should endeavour to build personal brand for themselves.
She said: “I will also say they should build a personal brand, one of the things that makes you relevant in the social media space is building your personal brand.
“This is you understanding your uniqueness and your ability to communicate it to your target audience, and so people are looking forward to what you can offer and because you have not assume that role and show them you are an expert in this industry and that you are able to proffer solution, they won’t come to you.
“Building a brand is establishing yourself as an authority as someone that is knowledgeable in that aspect so that you can remain relevant.”
Also, Co-founder, Women in Media Development Initiative, Omolola Oladimeji, stated that WMDI strongly believes that training is the sensor that helps female practitioners thrive, especially in the terrain where gender parity thrives and reigns, but believes that an empowered woman would translate to an empowered country.
