EXPERT URGES GOVT. STAKEHOLDERS TO PRIORITIZE AI SAFETY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Joshua Olonade, a distinguished technology expert, while acknowledging the effort of the government and relevant stakeholders in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) has made a pressing appeal for significant investment in AI safety measures, policies, and efforts. Olonade called on the government through The Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to spearhead efforts in formulating and implementing comprehensive AI safety policies. “To harness the full potential of AI for our nation’s progress, we must proactively address safety concerns through well-thought-out policies and measures. This includes investing in research, fostering public awareness about AI safety, and encouraging ethical considerations in the development of AI technologies,” he added.
