Q-Life Family Clinic Leads Health, Wellness Campaign in Memory of Alakija

Q-Life Family Clinic, a premier healthcare institution dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate medical services to individuals and families in Nigeria, organised its annual initiative.

“Waka with Q-Life and HEI”, a health and wellness event. This event, which entails a 9km walkathon, and encourages a healthy lifestyle around physical exercise is a memorial event in honour of the late Dr. Adetokunbo Alakija, a visionary leader and former Medical Director of the Q-Life Family Clinic.

The event, held on March 23, 2024, commenced with a walk starting from Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, extending through the scenic route of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge and Bourdillon Road before concluding at the starting point. With over 500 participants, attendees engaged in more than just the walk.

They also had the opportunity to undergo complimentary health screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and BMI assessments.

Additionally, participants received valuable training in first aid and emergency response, equipping them with essential skills to handle unforeseen medical situations.

During the event, the Medical Director of Q-Life Family Clinic, Dr. Olayinka Olowojolu, underscored the significance of regular walking as a simple yet potent strategy for maintaining optimal health.

He urged Nigerians to take personal responsibility for their well-being, proactively prioritizing their health, and emphasizing preventive measures over reactive healthcare practices.

“In Nigeria, there is often a tendency to seek medical attention only when illness strikes,” remarked Dr. Olowojolu. “We aim to challenge this narrative and empower individuals to prioritize their health through proactive measures.”

Chairperson of the Q-Life Family Clinic Board of Directors, Alero Alakija, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the pivotal roles of physical activity and dietary habits in enhancing longevity.

The late Dr. Adetokunbo Alakija’s profound influence was pivotal in the inception of the “Waka with Q-Life and HEI” campaign.

His steadfast dedication to public health and advocacy for walking led to the collaboration between Q-Life Family Clinic, Waka Community International Foundation and Health Emergency Initiative (HEI).

Integral to the success of the “Waka with Q-Life and HEI” initiative were the collaborative efforts of various organizations committed to advancing community health and safety.

Noteworthy contributions from partners such as the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) ensured the seamless orchestration of the event, underscoring Q-Life Family Clinic’s unwavering dedication to promoting health and wellness within the community.
