Niger House of Assembly Invites Security Chiefs over Youth Restiveness

The Niger State House of Assembly has resolved to invite heads of security agencies in the state for a meeting on the resurgence of thuggery and youth restiveness in the state.
Not less than five youths lost their lives and several others injured in the last two weeks following clashes between the youths especially in parts of Minna the state capital.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, who welcomed his colleagues from break, said that the heads of security agencies are to meet with the lawmakers to find a way out of the trend.
Sarkindaji declared that the return of youth restiveness in the state, especially the state capital is capable of eroding all the gains so far recorded by the present administration in the area of security and the maintenance of law and order, which is why urgent steps should be taken to arrest it.
He disclosed that the House will revisit the law against thuggery in the state in order to empower the security agencies to deal more decisively against perpetrators.
